Percussion instruments refer to musical instruments played by striking, scraping, or shaking against another similar instrument. The materials used to make percussion instruments include metal, wood or plastic, and they come in different sizes and shapes. There are two common classifications of percussion instruments: Tuned and untuned. Below is a selection of what we carry in-store

Bongo drums

Bongos are a pair of small open bottomed afro-cuban hand drum. The smaller drum is called macho ( male ) and bigger drum hembra (female) 🙂

Congo drums

Congos are tall, narrow, single headed barrel shaped cuban hand drums. They are played in sets of two or three.

Djembe drum

Jembes are west-african rope tuned, hollowed out tree stumps. In Bambara language “djĂ©” is the verb for “gather” and “bĂ©” translates as “peace.

Cajon

The cajon is a box shaped Peruvian instrument that can be played by hand, fingers or brushes. It has around soundhole that faces the back.

Chimes

Chimes or tubular bells is a percussion instrument that reminds you of church bells and cam be played with mallets.

Halfmoon Tambourine

The tambourine is a percussion instrument made from wood or plastic with jingles built into the frame.

Agogo

The AgogĂ´ is a traditional Yoruba instrument with a single or multiple bell. You produce a sound using a wooden mallet or by clicking them together.

Cowbell

The cowbell is a idiophone instrument based on the traditional cowbell. It is attached to the drumkit and played with a drumstick or mallet.

The shaker are various musical instruments used for creating rhythm in music. They are called shakers because the method of creating the sound involves shaking them.
