Controllers are the physical interface used to communicate with the computer. MIDI ( musical instrument digital interface ) is the language that they use to communicate and connect. MIDI controllers use binary data to represent parameters and inputs that you can adjust, sending information about notes ,velocity and rhythm. MIDI controllers allow you to both compose music and apply effects easier.
Controllers can be divided into a few sections:
- All -in-one Controller ( combination of keys, knobs, pads and fader )
- Keyboard Controller
- Grid Controller ( buttons and pads )
- Mixers ( faders and knobs )
All-in-one Controller
Controllers have a mix of keys, knobs, faders and pads. You just plug in via USB and the keys, faders, knobs and pads immediately spring into life, giving you hands-on control of your grid, instruments, effects and mixers.

Keyboard Controller
This selection is for digital pianos with MIDI. Or for those who like to play with two hands. These MIDI keyboard have more keys – 61 or 88 – and a better feel. If you don’t need any extra features (pads and faders) these are for you.

Grid Controller
A Grid controller is a hardware device with rubber pads arranged on its flat surface. The pads are touch-intensity sensors that are designed to be struck by the fingers at different velocities. The electronics inside the pad controller convert these hits into MIDI data which contains note and velocity information, but does not contain any kind of audio information such as drum sound, bit depth, sample rate, or frequency. You can then assign different sounds to each button

Mixer Controller
In a mixer controller these intelligent controllers have everything you need in a home studio mixer or live setup, yet can grow as your needs expand. A Midi controller is both flexible & dynamic to the point of being your studio mixer, midi mixer & live performance instrument.
